Calgary is the largest city in Alberta and one of the major metropolitan areas in Canada, with a population of more than 1.2 million residents. The city is located along Highway 2 at the southern end of the Calgary to Edmonton corridor. The region has a long history, including early settlement by First Nations communities, followed by the arrival of European settlers in the late 1800s. Calgary is well known for hosting the 1988 Winter Olympic Games and for its annual event, the Calgary Stampede.

It is recognized as one of Canada’s leading corporate centers, serving as the location for many company headquarters, including organizations such as Safeway Canada Ltd. and Shaw Communications. The city is also home to numerous Canadian offices for major energy companies. In addition, Calgary is a key transportation hub in the country, with the headquarters of WestJet and CP Rail located in the city.
